Ogun, Lagos, Delta and Rivers in Semi Final | (2012-12-03 )

Ogun, Lagos,Delta and Rivers have qualified to play in the semi final of the cricket event at the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival taking place in Lagos.

In the last Group 1 match played on Sunday,December 2 at the TBS oval,Delta defeated Anambra by  104 runs.

Delta won the toss and chose to bat and amassed 149 runs all out in 36.4 overs. Anambra scored 45 runs all out in 25.1 overs. Udoh Friday of Delta scored 27 runs off 34 balls, Mene- ejegi Ayo ( Delta) scored 24 runs not out off 41 balls. Okafor S  of Anambra scored 20 runs off 50 balls and Mgbojikwe C (Anambra) claimed 5 wickets for 18 runs in 8 overs. Mene-ejegi Ayo (Delta) took 7 wickets for 6 runs in 7.1 overs. Awosanmi O (Delta) took  3 wickets for 15 runs in 8 overs.
The last match of Group 2 played at the Unilag cricket pitch was between Kaduna and Lagos. Kaduna defeated Lagos by 25 runs.However, Lagos qualified to play in the semi final on higher Net Run Rate(NRR).Lagos (NRR -0.065), Kaduna (NRR -0.093). Kaduna won the toss and elected to bat and scored 112 runs all out in 32.2 overs. Lagos scored 87 runs all out in 30.2 overs. Gim Dan of Kaduna took  3 wickets for 19 in 5.2 overs.
After the second round of round robin,Delta State emerged 1st in Group 1,Rivers came 2nd and Anambra placed 3rd. Ogun State was 1st in Group 1,Lagos came 2nd while Kaduna was in 3rd position. First two in each group qualified for the semi final stage which will be played on Monday, December 3 simultaneously at the TBS oval and the Unilag cricket pitch.Delta will play Lagos at the TBS oval  while Ogun will take on Rivers at the Unilag cricket pitch.
